Backpacking Dreamer

Gracee will see places this year and the next. Dreaming is free but if chances do happen, then she shall make miracles for herself and for her friends. Just like what any traveling agent would say, "find a place, plan your stay and we will do the rest".

We are free to travel, however travel expenses take that freedom from us. But that should not stop us from making plans even if in the end, none of the plans get implemented. So here are the places I would like to see this year of the Tiger. Whichever comes first does not matter as long as they happen.

*Boracay. (Aklan) Considered one of the best beaches in the world, its white sand and crystal waters make it a haven for local and international tourists. I want to walk its fine sand and cool waters this year. The accommodations range from the luxurious to the tight in budget traveler but as for every one who happened to be there before, it is worth every peso.

*Puerto Princesa City. (Palawan) A highly-urbanized city in the South, it caters to various tourists every year. I want to see the underground rivers, crocodile farm and dive the clear waters along its coastline.

*Anawangin Cove. (Zambales) This place is famous among campers and backpackers for there are no commercialized resorts nor buildings around the area. It also has white sand and surprisingly some pine trees lining the shore. Boatrides and long walks are pretty much the mode of transportation here so as some bloggers suggested, it is better to travel in groups. So I think I really need to find some friends to go with me. Anyone interested?

* Taal Lake. (Batangas) Coming to this place is just a two-hour drive from the metro. The sight of the volcano from the Tagaytay road is just icing on the cake. To experience the volcano itself, one has to go down, take a boat and trek or ride a horse. It will be an ultimate adventure to experience such activities and feel the heat in the smallest volcano in the world. A trip to Tagaytay must be done as well.

*Sagada. (Mountain Province) Last year when we went to Baguio, I wanted to go to Sagada right away. However, traveling there should be planned ahead of time. I want to experience the culture and the mountain life. I will be captivated by the rice terraces and be caught up in a simple life of the Cordilleras. There are numerous activities that can be done during the stay such as trekking, camping and cave. But I definitely should go there with someone holding my hand when I feel the rush as the bus pass by the cliff on the mountainside.

*Bohol. This province in the Visayan Region is famous for its chocolate Hills and palm-size primates. I heard friends who came here and have been to the Hills say that this is really a wonderful place to see. Diving spots are established in the province and hopefully I will be able to run the shores.

* Subic Bay. (Olongapo City, Zambales) To trek the Mt. Pinatubo Crater is a thrill-seeker's dream. I want to discover the hidden lake, hot springs and various ground formations left by the volcanic eruption in 1992. For animal lovers, this is the place to be. The Ocean Adventure is a home to some aquatic creatures. To see doplhins in the sea is worth the travel but much more to dive with them on the sea, although at an additional fee I think. I was there more than five years ago and it was adventure kids and kid-at-heart should not miss. The Zoobic Safari is the only Tiger safari in the country. It boasts of the interactive experience that it gives its visitors. For those who want to feel an adventure a la survivor, the Jungle Environmental Survival Training Camp is the best place to be. The Aetas would teach you how to perform survival techniques that would surely make your experience one of a kind.

There are so much to see in the Philippines. It's just a matter of good research and exploration for aspiring travelers. Always remember that traveling is as good as the location. The long journey is nothing compared to the scenery, the experience and the adventure. It is always fun to travel with someone or with a group no matter how stressful some of the decision-making might be. No matter how exhausting the trip would be, the fresh air would always make you thankful, refreshed and powerful.
